Pacific Business News (Honolulu) - by Nanea Kalani Friday, November 9, 2007 Hyperspective Studios, a multimedia company
in Kakaako, will change its image this month with a fresh logo and
upgraded Web site.
But the 11-year-old company says the move goes beyond cosmetic
upgrades. The studio, with four employees, is changing its focus to
compete for high-end work in the multimedia field.
Hyperspective Studios has been doing mostly two- and
three-dimensional animation work, as well as interactive clips for
company Web sites. It wants to expand to concentrate more on the
television and film industries, said Joe Liska, its marketing and sales
director.
"We want to pursue the more advanced projects that can feature the
skill set of the company," he said. "We see the possibilities on the
digital horizon, and we are preparing to meet the challenges associated
with a growing and vibrant industry."
Liska said the studio is encouraged by the state's recent push for
creative media, including the growing number of students in the Academy for Creative Media at the University of Hawaii-Manoa.
He also noted the state's newly established Creative Industries
Division under the Department of Business, Economic Development and
Tourism. The division, set up in September, aims to maximize the
economic opportunity of the state's artistic and entertainment assets.
"We're committed to working in Hawaii, and it's encouraging to see
the emphasis from the state to support companies in media development,"
Liska said.
The studio hopes with the state's help that more Mainland companies will bring their productions to the Hawaii market.
In the meantime, Hyperspective Studios already has started expanding into the television field.
Last year the company completed production of "Second Chance," a
reality-based pilot documentary it hopes to distribute for national
airing. Link to the article. |
